Toxic Relationships

“Bad company corrupts good character.” The people in your life can be one of the most important spiritual assets or be one of your worst curses. Those relationships that are a curse to you are toxic. I learn from God’s Word about the dangers of toxic relationships and the importance of surrounding yourself with the right people. The right people will build you up and lead you towards Christ, but if you are around the wrong people they can be very toxic. They can hurt your soul. They can hurt your relationships. They can lead you into temptation. They can drag you down. They can very easily take you away from God’s best. In what ways have toxic relationships polluted your life and your relationship with God?

Do not be deceived: “Evil company corrupts good habits.” (1 Corinthians 15:33)

He who walks with wise men will be wise, But the companion of fools will be destroyed. (Proverbs 13:20)

But now I have written to you not to keep company with anyone named a brother, who is sexually immoral, or covetous, or an idolater, or a reviler, or a drunkard, or an extortioner— not even to eat with such a person. (1 Corinthians 5:11)

Flee also youthful lusts; but pursue righteousness, faith, love, peace WITH THOSE who call on the Lord out of a pure heart. (2 Timothy 2:22)

Toxic Influences

The toxic lie so many of us believe is “because everyone else does it, it’s okay for us and won’t harm us.” The truth is just because everyone else does it, doesn’t mean that it’s right for us spiritually. Be careful and aware of toxic influences in your life that affect your relationship with God and others. “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” (Romans 12:1-2)

It’s very easy to get trapped by cultural toxins because it’s easy to rationalize them in our head. Paul tells us in 1 Corinthians 6 that just because you can, doesn’t mean you should. “All things are lawful for me, but all things are not helpful. All things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any. (1 Corinthians 6:12)

“Therefore “Come out from among them And be separate, says the Lord. Do not touch what is unclean, And I will receive you.” “I will be a Father to you, And you shall be My sons and daughters, Says the Lord Almighty.” (2 Corinthians 6:17-18)

“Therefore, having these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God. (2 Corinthians 7:1)

What standards are you using to filter out cultural toxins in your life? How well do you think your standards match God’s? How do you deal with cultural toxins when you encounter them? You test them by asking these questions:

1.) Am I being entertained by sin?
2.) Is this pleasing to God?
3.) Does this lure me away from Christ?

What are some things you can do to completely remove cultural toxins from your life?

“Test all things; hold fast what is good. Abstain from every form of evil.” (1 Thessalonians 5:21-22)

“He who has clean hands and a pure heart, Who has not lifted up his soul to an idol, Nor sworn deceitfully. He shall receive blessing from the Lord, And righteousness from the God of his salvation.” (Psalm 24:4-5)

Feeling Overwhelmed

I felt so overwhelm today and I went and listen to one of my favorite short devotions “Our Daily Bread” and got such a great message from it. It was just what I needed to hear. Reading from 1 Peter 4:12-13 “Beloved, do not think it strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened to you; but rejoice to the extent that you partake of Christ’s sufferings, that when His glory is revealed, you may also be glad with exceeding joy.”

As believers our first priority is to show God’s love through it all. We will suffer but know that He is right there with us in those times of suffering. And in due time it will all end. So, anticipate the time when God’s “glory is revealed” (1 Peter 4:13) for will we will also be filled with “exceeding joy.” Now, I like the sound of that!

Make sure that through it all, God gets the glory and we reflect His love to others. God has always pulled us through with His mercy and grace. May we never take our eyes off Him and His love for us. Depend on God’s grace to get you through. Pray also that you might reflect His love. Whenever life’s burdens oppress you and trials are too much to face, remember God’s strength in your weakness; He’ll give you His power and grace. — The increasing darkness of trials only makes the “lamp of grace” shine brighter.

Pray to stop the plans of the enemy

My husband always say I pray to long, I pray for everything and everybody, especially when he’s hungry. Kiddingly he said, “do you really have to pray for all the poor people, and hungry children in Haiti and Africa! I’m hungry, I want to eat!…lol 🙂

Honestly, it’s not that I intentionally pray long or want too. I just end up doing so, I just love talking to the Most High. If someone ask me to pray for them I will and if someone randomly pop up in my head while I’m praying, I pray for them too. We need to pray, every minute of every hour of the day because the enemy is at work. I thank God for always protecting my family and friends.

Last week it was my sister-in-law who was present in the Empire State building shooting, 2 people got killed and others were wounded but she survived without a scar on her. And now my dad, who is ok now and on his way to recovery. That’s why we need to pray more, to stop the plans the enemy has for us, our family, friends and this world.

Thank you Father for always hearing and answering our prayers. You are great and mighty and worthy to be praise!

Sin’s of my father and mother

I was reading Psalm 109 this morning and verses 14 and 15 stop me in my tracks with this thought; “Your sin’s can fall upon your children, so be careful what you do or get into and try not to sin.” And because I was reading from the King James Study Bible it gave me two scriptures that made it clear. Exodus 20:5 and Deuteronomy 7:6-9; I love how Deuteronomy brings it all together. It simply is telling me that, “God keeps and shows mercy to those and their generation/children who love Him and keep His commandment.”

Ok, so you keep sining and living an unclean life but remember the only reason God isn’t done with you or hasn’t given up on you is because someone in your family, your friend(s) or someone somewhere hasn’t stop praying for you. Or it could be even because of your forefathers before you that had a great relationship with the Lord; and simply because the Lord LOVES YOU! So don’t let your sins fall on your children and their children, get it together before it’s to late! Jesus can save you!

Scripture readings:

Psalms 109: 14-15 “Let the iniquity of his fathers be remembered before the Lord, And let not the sin of his mother be blotted out. Let them be continually before the Lord, That He may cut off the memory of them from the earth.”

Exodus 20:5 “…… For I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate Me.”

Deuteronomy 7:6-9 “For you are a holy people to the Lord your God; the Lord your God has chosen you to be a people for Himself, a special treasure above all the peoples on the face of the earth. The Lord did not set His love on you nor choose you because you were more in number than any other people, for you were the least of all peoples; but because the Lord loves you, and because He would keep the oath which He swore to your fathers, the Lord has brought you out with a mighty hand, and redeemed you from the house of bondage, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt. “Therefore know that the Lord your God, He is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and mercy for a thousand generations with those who love Him and keep His commandments.”

Even Satan believes in God

There are many who believe in God or a god, even Satan himself believes in God. If you truly believe, you must receive the gift of His Son Jesus Christ into your heart, into your life, by praying and asking Him to save you. It’s called a personal relationship with Jesus, not a religion, not going to church, not good works, which is doing good or being kind.

“You believe that there is one God. You do well. Even the demons believe and tremble!” (James 2:19)

“Look to Me, and be saved, All you ends of the earth! For I am God, and there is no other.” (Isaiah 45:22)

“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16)

“For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.” (Ephesians 2:8-9)

“You also be patient. Establish your hearts, for the coming of the Lord is at hand.” (James 5:8)

“And He said to them, “It is not for you to know times or seasons which the Father has put in His own authority.” (Acts 1:7)

“But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. Take heed, watch and pray; for you do not know when the time is.” (Mark 13:32-33)

“Behold, I am coming quickly! Blessed is he who keeps the words of the prophecy of this book.” (Revelation 22:7)

If you don’t know Him and want to, say this prayer today.

Dear Lord,
I admit that I am a sinner. I have done many things that don’t please you. I have lived my life for myself. I am sorry and I repent. I ask you to forgive me. I believe that you sent your Son Jesus Christ to die on the cross for me, to save me. You did what I could not do for myself. I come to you now and ask you to take control of my life, I give it to you. Help me to live every day in a way that pleases you. I love you, Lord, thank You for forgiving me and I thank you that I will spend all eternity with you.

In Jesus Christ name I pray, Amen.

If you have said this prayer and truly believe and meant what you say, leave a comment and a email so I can celebrate with you, God and the angels in heaven and welcome you into the family.

God bless you! And thanks for reading.

I Lost My Lord

I was so happy a few months ago,
My relationship with my Lord was at its peek,
I would find peace when I seek.

To Him I would talk to all day long
in my darkest time He stood tall,
and beside me he never strayed,
not even for a day.

Through His words I would hear Him speak,
that lead my soul closer to Thee,
I felled in love with Him every step of the way.
I would seek his face and He would guide me,
my burdens He would always carry.
But Some how, I lost my Lord along the way.

We use to meet each time I pray.
He was a part of my every day,
from little songs I’d sing in my head,
to thoughts of praise I would offer up to Him,
to worship my God, my King, who is always there for me.
Who gave me everything, His blood He shed, to save someone like me.

There in my heart is where we would meet,
and now His face I can not see.
I have put a gap between my Lord and me,
I have stop reading His word, the guideline to the path I should take,
The way He knows is best for me,
I have ignored and took control of my own destiny.

I have gotten comfortable in my walk with Him,
not being able to take risk for the Almighty, for the gospel sake. Losing to sin, enjoy life more and focusing on Him less.
Thus, I let our relationship fade away. And now I can no longer seek His face. My sins have pushed YOU OH LORD far away.

Lord I am in this dry place,
I don’t know if your presence is near,
or even here as I write in tears, pray, plead and pounder.
I’m I even close to your grace, to what you expected of me or intended for me to be.
For all I can feel is emptiness and incomplete.

Lately, I just don’t feel the same,
And at times I want to cry out your name,
but the pain and shame wont allow me. Where is the me I use to be, the one when accepted you, was filled with joy and the zeal of Christ in me.

I need to get back in touch, back in step with you O` God.
For there is no one that can fill this void, or quench this thirst but you O` Lord, heal my broken soul, restore it and make it whole.
Draw me close to you, like you’ve never done before.
My salvation is in you Father, I miss you, I need you; forgive me, fill me and take control of me.

I am praying that the Lord use this to touch someone and bring them back to Him.

Who is this man?

Who is this man that I keep as a keepsake in my heart, that seem to take my senses away, not knowing what’s real from fake, Cause with him I’m always in a fairy tale.

Who is this man? The one who opens his heart to the word of God and seek the face of the one I adore.

Who is this man that can capture each of my heart beats with his smile.
Who is this man that fills me with love, a love he has that can not only be felt but also seen.

His touch says everything, he need not say anything, for I know what each touch means and just what he wants to say. There’s no gravity that can keep me from reaching for him, and not a thing out there can keep me from him.

All my sinful nature wants is him, to get down and dirty with him, but the Holy Spirit in me always reminds me of the stand I take and the life I cling too. The one I live to please that brought me this wonderful love indeed. My mind, my soul, my heart, the places my Lord resides also holds a place for him.

I am glad my heart misses him when he’s gone, its like a pain in the center of my heart. See, for if my flesh alone misses him, then its not what it should be, cause if I listen to my flesh, that sinful nature that longs for thee would take control and it wont be love, real, true love that my heart feels and misses; but instead just lust arising from our kisses. So with this said, I miss this man, my all misses him.

Who is this man? This man is the love that lives in me, in my heart, this love I know as real love. And that man, this man, my man, its all you baby,
I love you Corey Foster!

She’s Bless

She’s so bless, she doesn’t even know it. Her face so prefect, she doesn’t even notice. So worried about what the world has to say, she can’t see all her grace.

The Lord smiles down on her, she’s to busy to feel it, He blesses her with gifts, she points them out as flaws.
When the cool breeze and warm sunlight dances through her hair,
as God lets her know He’s near, she said “it messing up my hair.”

He tells her He loves her by sending his Son, She takes it as a false story.
Her day goes well because of His Angels looking down on her, She says “Thank goodness I made it through the day.” Not knowing it was He that blessed her to see that day.

When she felt alone, He blessed her with love; instead of her thanking God for a love so sweet, she thanks the guy for coming her way and for being her everything.

She sin’s and He has mercy, letting her still be all that she can be. With shoes on her feet, cloths on her back, her family perfectly healthy and so is she, yet she still never stops to give thanks to thee Almighty.

She dies and in heaven she stand in God presence. There He ask, “why didn’t you never receive my Son and never appreciate Me, praise Me for all the things I’ve done…done for you.

She relied, “Lord! I never saw what you did”, then the Lord showed her everything and she fell on her knees and started to weep uncontrollably, she began to praise God and thank Him for all He had done.

Then she asked Him for forgiveness, but the Lord said to her “stop! For It’s to late now, your judgment has come.” Don’t let your day come and you’ve never stop to say thank you Lord and received His Son Jesus Christ. DO IT TODAY BEFORE ITS TO LATE! For you are truly BLESS!!!

You Don’t Understand

I don’t think you realize, how much you mean to me. How I can’t go a day without a glance of your face or the sound of your voice. You don’t understand, I think of you more than I think of myself. I got this glow and everyone notices it. You do something to me when you stair into my eyes, and the very touch of you brings me to life.

You worry about what the future holds for you and me, I don’t think you understand I’ll never leave your side, here with you is where I’ll always reside. No one has ever filled me with so much love, you have loved me beyond what I could have ever image. The joy I feel when I’m with you is pure and so incredible.

I thought I knew what love is but you’ve proved me wrong every time. Your feelings, your passion, your love for me is not just spoke of from you but I can see it, I can feel it and I live in it everyday, it’s the most amazing, earth shaking, heart pounding feeling and place to be.

Life together with you would be like living in a fantasy, for your love brings new and exciting challenges everyday. I don’t think you know how much I love you. My body, my heart, my mind, my soul, my spirit loves you and longs for you each moment.

I just don’t think you understand, whether we be poor, on the streets, I’ll lay in a box beside you. Maybe miles away, my heart will always find its way to you. Even if we are filthy rich together, I won’t love you any better. I’ll love you the same as I do now, and more each day as our love grow.

Can’t you understand that no matter what life takes us through, I’ll still and always be IN LOVE WITH YOU.
